Do you love a list? I absolutely do. It grounds me. It helps me feel centered, and when it comes to information, it makes my little heart pitter-patter when things are concise and organized.
After all these years in business as an intuitive, it never occurred to me to list the top 10 reasons that someone may not trust their intuition and the top 10 reasons that we ought to trust our intuition until now.
A little backstory, I was scrolling through YouTube as that is my entertainment of choice, and there were top 10 reasons you should start running. Since I've already done that, I didn't need to watch the video, but it sparked my idea to do the top 10, as mentioned above.
A significant goal of my coaching is to help others trust their intuition. Using it as the skill it is intended to be is vitally important. I know it brings me a lot of joy, and I want that for everyone else. I also know how difficult it can be to trust your intuition and the challenges that people face because I see them daily in my business.
It was a good challenge for me to pull this compilation together. I did it by thinking of the struggles I've had in trusting my intuition and also by thinking of clients' past and current and some of their frustrations.
It can be a real bugger to hone in on for something that is our first sense.
“So, what are the challenges, Vicki?”
I'm glad you asked; head on over to the podcast and listen, and you'll find out what they are. I'm kidding. I wouldn't do that to you, but I also can't list all 20 in this newsletter or it becomes a novella. I will give you the top three reasons for each, and then should you find yourself interested in the rest, you can wander over to wherever you listen to your podcasts and tune into this week's episode.
The top three reasons why you may find it difficult to trust your intuition are:
Emotional attachment: Strong emotions, such as fear or desire, can influence a person's intuition and make it difficult to trust their instincts. If you are attached to an outcome, it will be tough to hear the subtlety of intuition.
Cultural or societal conditioning: Cultural or societal norms may dictate that logic and rationality are more reliable than intuition, leading people to discount their intuition. You may also fear what others will say about you when they hear you are developing your intuition. Let their fear be theirs. Do it anyway.
Overthinking: Overanalyzing a situation can cause people to ignore their intuition and instead rely on logic or reasoning. Stinking thinking is what this is, and it gets in the way of the magic of intuition guiding as intended.
“Ok, why would we want to trust our intuition?”
Here you go! The top three reasons you ought to trust your intuition are as follows:
Quick decision-making: Your intuition can help you make quick decisions based on your immediate gut feelings, which can be helpful in situations where you need to act fast. I once bought a car without driving because I knew it was mine. It was the best car and lasted way past when most others of its kind had.
Improved self-awareness: By trusting your intuition, you can become more aware of your feelings and emotions, which can help you make better decisions for yourself. You came into this experience to know yourself well. Intuition will do that for you.
Improved intuition: The more you trust and act on your intuition, the more it develops and strengthens. This may seem obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people want to wave a magic wand and have it work for them on demand. It’s a learn-and-earn process. Put the work in, and you will grow it exponentially. It’s a learn-and-earn process.
Do any of these sound familiar to you? Have you had conversations with yourself, which is completely normal, about the stinking thinking, the ought to, or the desire to trust your intuition more? Then congratulations, you are human! WOO HOO!
So, what are you waiting for? Head over to wherever you listen to podcasts and give me a follow so I’ll show up on your device every week or click here to listen to this week’s episode.
